The annual awards recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution that local, unpaid volunteers and community groups make to life in South Gloucestershire. The next celebration of community work and volunteering takes place in January, and you have until 5 December to nominate your local ‘community heroes’.

Thornbury Orchestra are always keen to hear from interested players and currently have a number of vacancies.
The orchestra was founded in 2002 and draws players from across South Gloucestershire and beyond. We rehearse regularly in St Helen's, Alveston and normally give two or three concerts a year, all in support of local charities.

This year, Love Thornbury have proudly worked alongside Thornbury in Bloom, Thornbury Royal British Legion, Krunch, and many other valued community partners, raising over £4,500 for St Peter’s Hospice.
2026 promises to be a landmark year for Thornbury, with plans underway for the town’s first-ever Pride Celebration in June, and a Summer Fest in August, a family-friendly event offering free activities, music, and entertainment.
