Gillingstool Primary School Governor Opportunity

Gillingstool Primary School is a popular school serving a diverse population in the heart of Thornbury and surrounding area. We have a strong vision and values ethos, where inclusivity for all is a key element. The curriculum for learning is exciting and enriching for the children, and we ultimately seek to Inspire, Believe and Achieve.

The Governing Body is now seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join an effective and cohesive team of people to hold the school to account, to continually shape the vision and values, and to set and monitor the strategic direction of the school.

You do not need to be an expert in education and a big part of this role will be for you to learn about the many fabulous ways and methods that children learn and grow into well balanced and happy individuals. You will then use this knowledge to support the Senior Leadership Team through appropriate challenge and questioning.

Governors at Gillingstool Primary School are volunteers and benefit from excellent support and development opportunities. These are provided through an induction process and a full programme of training available both face to face and on-line to suit individual needs. There are also regular opportunities to work alongside experienced Governors and to take on a responsibility for an area of the School Development Plan to support the school’s priorities.

The Board of Governors welcomes applications from all interested parties as we seek different perspectives and opinions to ensure that a balanced view for the school is achieved. We are especially keen to hear from people who have any business experience (either local or national) or knowledge of environmental activities.

Expressions of interest can be made by emailing our Clerk to Governors Michelle Galliott, by email in the first instance.

Alternatively, if you have any further questions about the governor role at Gillingstool Primary School, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to share more information about the governor role.
