Thornbury Art Club: Monthly Club Night
St Mary's Church Hall
For our opening night in 2026, we have a water soluble oils demonstration by Valérie Pirlot. This will be a landscape as Valerie loves to capture the great outdoors ‘alla prima’. In fact often she has been invited to paint live events such weddings, parties, fairs, circus shows and music festivals such as Glastonbury. Valerie is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and a founding member of The British Plein Air Painters group. Her teaching will encourage us to paint with freshness, confidence and spontaneity and will include tips for plein air painting. Valerie aims to depict the essence of a subject in a few well-placed brushstrokes. It should be a captivating evening.
We’ll have a short break during the evening for free tea, coffee, and biscuits. This will give us an opportunity to catch up with each other and say hello to our visitors. There will be some time to chat to the artist and ask questions. Don’t miss this fantastic chance to learn, socialise, and enjoy an evening of art, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills.
