Great Western Air Ambulance Charity Birthday Celebrations
Thornbury High Street
9:00 – 17:00, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity Shop, 14 High Street, Thornbury BS35 2AQ
Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is celebrating its second successful year raising vital funds through its shop on Thornbury High Street. Nestled next to Tesoro Lounge, the shop has welcomed many customers, volunteers, and donations since its doors opened in December 2023. The charity would therefore like to thank local people for their generous support and invite them to two days of festivities.
To mark the anniversary date itself, GWAAC will be hosting a special birthday event on Friday 12 December. The shop will be open from 09:00–17:00, with celebrations ongoing throughout the day, including a visit from Thornbury’s Mayor at 10:00.
In 2024, 656 people in Bristol needed GWAAC’s help, making up 29% of GWAAC’s total missions. 2024 was a record year for call-outs for GWAAC and Bristol was its busiest region with a 22% increase compared to 2023. It was also the first time since 2021 that Bristol saw more call-outs in a year than Gloucestershire.
With patient numbers rising year on year, money raised by the Thornbury shop will help keep Bristol’s critical care and air ambulance service operational.
