Thornbury Arts Festival: Nick Hand - The Press On Project

Bristol designer and letterpress printer Nick Hand will talk about his two-wheeled project to travel the country in support of public libraries.
He is visiting libraries up and down Britain on a special bike - one made to carry an Ada-na printing press, inks, type and blocks. The items will be used to produce a limited run of bookmarks unique to each library, all printed within the premises he visits and the design of each one inspired by the words and images of writers and artists.
Nick is founder of the Letterpress Collective in Bristol, where he passes on the skills of letterpress printing to others through workshops and classes.
He came up with the Press On idea 15 years after he travelled 6,500 miles around the coast of Britain and Ireland on a bike, recording the work and lives of craftspeople.
