Thornbury and District Produce and Craft Summer Show 2024

Turnberrie's Community Centre, Thornbury

Doors open at 2pm

Admission Adults £2, Senior Citizens £1.50, Children under 16 free

Calling all gardeners, allotment holders, flower arrangers, crafters and those who like to be creative!

It’s time to start planning your entries for the Summer Produce and Craft Show, which is taking place on Saturday 10th August 2024 at Turnberries in Thornbury.

This is a fun opportunity to show others the fruit, vegetables, houseplants, and flowers you grow and tend, alongside cookery, preserves, photography, and crafts. There will also be a display by The Orchid Society.

Entries need to be submitted by Wednesday 7th August 2024 to Jolies Fleurs Florist or T.J. Owen.

This year, we have revised and updated many classes, with new classes for photography, cookery, and floral art, including both Vegan and Vegetarian cookery classes. With more craft classes than previously there really is so much more variety to tempt you to take part.

Those of you who enjoy growing, why not try our Top Tray class to show the variety of what you grow, or maybe you could think of a vegetable we have not considered and enter it into the show as well?

All WI groups are invited to encourage members to enter the cookery, preserves and handicraft classes to win the WI challenge trophy, there is also a cup for the individual WI member scoring the most points in these sections.

For children, there are new classes for photography, cookery, art, and craft as well as an exciting new sponsored growing class, which is open to all children under the age of 16. These new classes provide interesting things for children to try during their school holidays and to share their outcomes at the show.

For those children who planted a hanging basket at either the library or the Love Thornbury Event at the beginning of June - we would love to see how you have got on in nurturing the plants by entering your hanging basket into the show under the President's Challenge class and bring it along on show day.

We welcome everyone to come along from 2pm in the afternoon to view the show entries and talk to likeminded people, including the Orchid Society, and enjoy lovely refreshments.

Schedules containing all the information you need are available from Thornbury Library, T&J Owen Florist and Jolie Fleurs Florist in Thornbury.

Thornbury Horticultural Society Committee would like to thank T&J Owen Florist, Jolie Fleurs Florist, Thornbury Library, Alan Cole Manager of The St Mary Shopping Centre, and Blaise Nursery for their continued help and support with the Show.

For more information, contact Rachel Webb 07748 072336 or Sheridan Rendall 07446 868889

“It’s only a show if people take part... give it a go... enter the show. See you all on show day.”
