Thornbury Radio's Presenter Academy
Turnberrie's Community Centre, Thornbury
Ever wondered what it takes to be a presenter on Thornbury Radio? Well, now’s your chance to find out and get involved.
We are holding a Presentation Academy at 11am on Sunday 11th of January at Turnberrie's Community Centre. No experience is required and the good news: it’s totally free to attend.
You can learn how a radio show is put together, how you prepare to present a show on Thornbury Radio and how you compose the links between songs - the talky bits that enable you to connect to the listener.
You’ll also learn how to do interviews as well as compiling and reading the local news.
Nigel Lane, Head of News at Thornbury Radio said “I have loved reading the local news for over 5 years now, I can’t wait to chat about how the stories you hear on Thornbury Radio each hour start out and hear local voices who could become our news writers and readers of the future.”
We’ll talk about podcasting, the importance of social media and how you can get involved in our outside broadcasts.
It’s hosted by Paris Troy from GWR and Radio Bristol and our Thornbury Radio breakfast show presenter Chris Criddle.
It’s not just presentation you’ll learn about, there’s lots of other roles we need help with, including finance, looking after all our broadcast equipment in a technical role and general admin.
