SARA Sharpness Lifeboat Station Open Day
10am-4pm at The Old Dock, Sharpness GL13 9UB
The crew and volunteers of the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA)’s Sharpness Lifeboat Station are inviting the public to their annual Open Day — a fantastic family-friendly event in support of one of the region’s volunteer emergency services.
As an independent lifeboat organisation, SARA operates multiple stations along the River Severn. The volunteers of this fantastic local charity need your help and support on the day so they can continue their important work – going to search and rescue emergencies in all weathers and at any time of the day/night, 365 days a year.
It’s a perfect day out for families, boat enthusiasts, and anyone interested in supporting a local lifesaving charity. There will be boat rides, barbecues, tea, cakes, kids’ activities and book stalls. They will be joined by the Rock Choir and Gloucester & District Model Boat Club.
Throughout the day, visitors will also have the chance to meet the lifeboat crew, learn about the wide range of skills involved in rescue operations, and see live demonstrations of the equipment and techniques used during emergencies.
Whether you’re coming for the cakes, the choir, or the chance to take a boat ride on the Severn, your presence and support help keep the lifeboats ready to launch — day or night.
So come along, bring the family, and enjoy a great day out while helping the volunteers of this fantastic local charity.
