Thornbury Choral Society grew out of Thornbury Music Club and Choir founded in 1963. Its conductor, Steven Kings, is the fourth in its 56 year history.
The Society’s main concerts, usually with full orchestra and professional soloists, are held in May and November. Performances in recent years have included works by composers as diverse as Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Fauré, Mozart, Handel, Hayden, C.P.E. Bach, Rossini, Schubert and Beethoven. For a review of recent concerts please see our website below.
Competent singers are always welcome to join, and there are no auditions. Rehearsals are on Mondays, 8pm at Thornbury United Reformed Church between September and May. Starting in January 2020 we will run an 8 week "Get Back to Singing" course for anyone who would like to refresh their experience of singing in a choir or who would like the challenge of singing a different style of music. Details on our website below.
If you would like to try a couple of rehearsals or would like more information please ring the Chairman, Ruth Piolle, or email below. You will be very welcome.
