Because it always falls in midweek, 40 days after Easter, Ascension Day is frequently sidelined. Yet it is one of the four Principal Feasts of the Church alongside Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost. Indeed Pentecost finds its fullest meaning only in the light of the Ascension.
