History Talk: The Work of the Lower Severn Internal Drainage
Olveston Methodist Church
Olveston Parish Historical Society History Talk: After a short AGM, we’ll hear from Matthew Riddle about the current work of the Lower Severn Internal Drainage Board.
This is the organisation which manages our local water levels, making sure that rhines and sluices are functioning properly. We’re a low-lying area, so this is vital work. He’ll trace the Board’s history back to the Court of Sewers in Tudor times.
All meetings take place in the Methodist Church, The Street, Olveston BS35 4DR at 7.30pm, with refreshments served before the start of the meeting.
Annual membership (for all monthly evening meetings, October to April) is £10. Visitor fee for a single meeting is £3. Both are payable on the door (cash or cheque only, please). Fee includes refreshments. All welcome!
