Berkeley Green UTC
The new Headteacher of SGS Berkeley Green UTC is set to welcome parents to the school's first open day of the year this Saturday.
Louise Davies was formerly Head of Sixth Form at Castle and Marlwood Schools and took up her new post in September. She said, 'I am so thrilled to be welcoming new parents and potential students to this amazing school, which is unlike any other in the area. Our specialist curriculum and emphasis on pairing vocational and academic learning gives our students a real advantage when it comes to applying for jobs and further study in engineering and digital technology.'
SGS Berkeley Green is a University Technical College and admits students in years 10 and 12 who wish to specialise in STEM, engineering or digital subjects. Last year, half of all sixth form leavers obtained advanced or degree apprenticeships, substantially higher than the national average. Louise puts this down to a strong focus on employability. The school has extensive links with local employers who contribute regularly to all aspects of school life. Just this week for example, the school said farewell to the Bloodhound SLR as the project team set off to South Africa for land-speed testing.
The first open day is on Saturday 5 October from 10am-1pm, with presentations by the headteacher at 10.30 and 11.30.
Further open days will take place on Saturday 23 November and Thursday 25 January, both 10am-1pm, and Thursday 23 April, 5.30 - 8pm.
The UTC's new website is currently under construction and will be launched shortly. If you would like any further information, please email below.
