It’s party time! We are raising money for Marlwood School by organising a big party #marlwoodrocks, this event will take place on SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2019 at Marlwood School itself within a marquee structure on the school field.
We are working closely with Marie from Friends of Marlwood School (FOMS) and countless amazing volunteers to make this an exciting and fantastic event you won’t want to miss!
Tickets go on sale in April and will cost £25 per person. The ticket price includes a hog roast, photo booth, a band and a DJ. There will be a huge raffle and a silent auction, we even have a few surprises up our sleeves!
In the meantime, if you would like to get involved in any way please contact Caroline by email below or on 07730 514715, Kate at firstname.lastname@example.org or 07792 143913 or Marie at email@example.com or 07887 652381.
This event is open to EVERYONE! We would love to see and meet all ex pupils, teachers and friends of Marlwood School from all year groups as far back as we can. There is such a steep history to Marlwood and it would be so interesting to have us all together in three marquees! We really want to celebrate the union of Marlwood throughout the years and think this is a fantastic opportunity to do just that.
You can keep yourselves updated with our progress and offer your services on our Facebook page #wearemarlwood or the Friends of Marlwood School Facebook page. Equally if you are still in contact with school friends, please let them know about all the great work being done to help the school and organise yourselves a nostalgic night out.
After watching the programme Schools on BBC2 last year, many people were shocked and horrified at the scale of the problem that schools in South Gloucestershire are facing through lack of funding. Particularly Marlwood, which has been put into special measures as a result of their last Ofsted Inspection. There is no more money and they are struggling for basic supplies.
This is a great way to support the school and we are really looking forward to it. Let’s make a difference and help Marlwood rise again to become the school we all attended and loved so much (hindsight is wonderful).
Kate and I have very fond memories of our school days and on realising the depth of the issues Marlwood are facing couldn’t think of anything better than to get involved and help organise an event that we know will be a great success. If we pull together, we can make a huge difference to the next generation, many of whom are our own children and grandchildren.
We look forward to seeing you! Caroline Blake
