Thornbury Theatregoers: Quartet
Everyman, Cheltenham, leaving from outside Gillingstool School, Thornbury
The charming bitter-sweet comedy by Oscar winning playwright Ronald Harwood about four ageing opera singers, Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred who reside in a magnificent retirement home in Kent. The rumour going around is that the home is to welcome a new resident who is a star in the world of opera. Jean arrives and soon old rivalries resurface, secrets are revealed and chaos unfolds. This is a celebration of the twilight years and the hilarity of growing old disgracefully. The play stars Paul Nicholas (The Real Marigold Hotel, Just Good Friends), Wendi Peters (Coronation Street, O What a Lovely War), Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses, The Green Green Grass) and Jeff Rawles (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Drop the Dead Donkey).
