There are still tickets available for this year's Thornbury Jazz Festival, but they won't be there for long! Come and join us at Marlwood to hear four fabulous bands in a relaxed jazz café setting.

Top of the bill are the top-notch Storyville Strutters, veterans of The Old Duke and countless other venues and festivals in the South-West and Wales. Led by Cass Caswell (double bass) and with hot-ticket vocalist Sinead McCabe out front, the band features Andy Leggett (clarinet and soprano sax), Ceri Williams (trumpet), Terry Williams (trombone), Gus Dolding (banjo) and Eddie John (drums). They'll end the night by taking us back to the authentic roots of jazz in the Storyville Quarter of New Orleans, early in the 20th century.

The three supporting bands cover a broad spectrum of jazz and will provide much to appeal to jazz fans of all tastes. The Festival begins with a bang and a big-band wall of sound from the excellent 16-piece Thornbury Swing Band and vocalist Shairon Lloyd. The evening continues with two popular local ensembles and mellow standards from the Great American Songbook to Latin, via George Shearing and the Hot Club of Paris. The Class Act Quartet comprises John Huggins and Steph Witcombe (guitars), Gareth Williams (flutes) and Jim Pimpernell (double bass). Jim then stays on for the Mood Indigo Trio, joining Will Grealish (vocals) and John Lambert (piano).

There's plenty of free parking at Marlwood, the bar will be open from 3.30pm and a selection of hot food will be available.
