Volunteer Conservation Day
We’re really pleased to say that we are ready for a small number of volunteers to return to the arboretum. We’ve missed having you there, and the arboretum could certainly benefit from your energy and enthusiasm once more!
Because of the coronavirus pandemic we are starting very gradually, to make sure that we keep the risk to volunteers and staff to an absolute minimum. With that in mind we are introducing new ways of working that may take a bit of time for all of us to get used to. Please read our new volunteering protocol on our website.
As part of this we will be limiting numbers so please do let us know in advance if you want to come along.
We hope that these new ways of working won’t get in the way of you feeling relaxed and comfortable in the arboretum, and that we’ll still have a really enjoyable day together. If you have any concerns please do speak to one of us about them.

Learn new skills, meet new people and help restore the unique woodland of Tortworth Arboretum.
We run monthly volunteer conservation days, using hand tools to restore the arboretum. If you enjoy working in the fresh air in stunning woodland surroundings, this is for you.
Work could include clearing bracken and bramble, chopping firewood, opening up pathways and cutting back overgrowth, building composting bins and more. Volunteers are involved in deciding what work should be done and how we evolve the project.
Food: Unfortunately due to the current covid-19 pandemic we are unable to offer food or hot drinks, so please bring a packed lunch!
Clothing: As we will be working with bramble please wear long trousers and long sleeved tops. Sturdy shoes are best too as the ground is uneven.
Directions: Please head to GL12 8HH on sat nav, towards the Tortworth Court Hotel. As you turn on to the driveway to the hotel, after a couple of passing places you will come to a green metal gate set back on the right hand side just before a stone building. Turn into this gate and park up.
