Save Vilner Lane Wood Petition Signing Morning
St Mary Centre
To update you on the campaign to Save Vilner Lane Wood, there is an open meeting in the Town Hall on Monday 13th Jan
A message from campaigners: "We are needing as many signatures as possible to be able to save Vilner Lane woods, which is located near the leisure centre in Thornbury. The site could potentially going be sold to a care home developer, resulting in the loss of over 1000 trees. The link to the e-petition is below.
In line with the declaration of Climate Emergency, the wood should be retained as woodland, a carbon sequestration site, a buffer between housing and commercial property, a wildlife habitat, a green space, a wildlife corridor, a forest school resource and an absorber of floodwater.
Alternatively we will be holding a petition signing morning in several locations including St Mary's Street Centre, the composting site and the Leisure centre. The development of a care home would also mean the loss of the composting site, a very valuable service to those in and around Thornbury which is kindly run by volunteers.
Please come and sign the petition on 18th January between 9 and 12, your support it greatly appreciated!"
