Eastwood Gardeners' Club: An Evening with Bob Flowerdew
Armstrong Hall, Thornbury
Eastwood Garden Club at Thornbury and Wotton-under-Edge Gardening Club have joined forces to bring nationally known speakers to the area. Their first joint venture will be on Tuesday 10th March 2020, when they are delighted to announce ‘An Evening with Bob Flowerdew’.
Bob Flowerdew is a well known organic gardener, participant on Gardeners World, regular panellist on Gardeners Question Time and author of many books including Bob Flowerdew’s Organic Bible and the Gourmet Gardener. He is a regular blog writer, patron of his local Food Bank, President of the Norfolk group of the Soil Association and a passionate advocate for homegrown food. He gardens on a one acre plot in Norfolk and is known for his slightly eccentric approach to recycling (remember the potatoes grown in a pile of old car tyres, or the apples stored in frost free, rat proof old freezer carcasses?).
Sue Hunt from Wotton Gardening Club Committee said: “This is a new and exciting venture for our small club. Our partners in Thornbury have been generous with their time and expertise and we are confident that this will be a popular event. All gardeners like to hear an experienced and knowledgeable speaker, and Bob has the added bonus of humour and more than a little eccentricity!”
Tickets are going on sale shortly. They will be £10 each for members of either Garden Club (available from the Club), and £12 for non-members who can purchase tickets by contacting Richard Laycock on 07762 120904 (Thornbury) or Sue Hunt on 01453 521263 (Wotton-under-Edge).
