Armstrong Arts Group: Lydia Kenny, Saxophonist, In Concert

The fantastically talented Lydia Kenny will be performing on Sunday 19th May in The Cossham Hall. Lydia, Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2018, will play a varied and accessible programme of saxophone music accompanied by her father Damian Kenny. She will introduce the programme in her charming and informative manner.
Lydia has won both the Hewitt-Jones trophy and the Carducci audience prize. She studies the saxophone with Lara James, having previously studied at Gloucestershire Academy of Music under Wes Duggan. Lydia is working towards her Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music having obtained DipABRSM Distinction on saxophone in 2017.
She was a finalist in Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2017, Two Moors Performance Platform 2017, and a National Finalist in the Rotary Young Musician 2015, after winning the Regional Final. She has played saxophone concertos with several Gloucestershire Orchestras.
Lydia is an all round performer having studied acting with the Young Actors’ Studio at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has performed at major festivals including the Cheltenham Music and Literature Festivals, Bath Children’s Literature Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival and The Carducci Festival. She features on the title track of Andrew Heath’s new album ‘Evenfall’.
Lydia is keen to support young musicians and has run workshops on music and performing to young people across Gloucestershire. She also plays violin with Gloucestershire Symphony Orchestra, Gloucestershire Youth Chamber Orchestra (Inspire) and the Cantilena Orchestra.
A Sunday afternoon concert on May 19th at 3pm in the Cossham Hall Thornbury, with delicious cakes served with tea in the interval. What at treat!
