Cake Decorating Course: The Birth of the Dragon Prince
The Cake School, Thornbury
Time: 9.30am – 4.30pm
With the launch of the final Game of Thrones, Dee has been inspired to create an Intermediate/Advanced course where the future Prince of the Dragons emerges from an egg. The design takes you back to the land of fairy tales and legends where you can create your own story with a mystical Dragon about to become the Prince of all Dragons within Greater Thornbury ……. let’s stop this nonsense and start explaining the course!!
You will be creating the egg from cake but because of time constraints you will just form the top half. Also, it means you are not spending copious amounts of time forming the scales, allowing you to focus on the dragon. You will be using a combination of modelling chocolate and paste to create the dragon based on an underlying framework. The course also focuses on colour and there will be an opportunity to use an airbrush to create depth through shading.
Some of the skills you will acquire:
Preparing and icing an egg shape cake
Colouring fondant and paste
Creating and applying scales to the egg
Forming a structure for the dragon
Using a combination of paste to form the dragon’s body
Effective use of colour to create depth
Use of airbrush
Putting together the final piece
Tips regarding storage and transport
As with all courses, because it is all-day, lunch will be provided with light refreshments throughout. Equipment is provided for each person so you do not have to be kept waiting.
