Cake Decorating Course: Too Much Cake 1/2
The Cake School, Thornbury
Date: Saturday 30th November and Saturday 7th December
Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm on both days
This cake was designed by Dee for the Christmas Cake Category at Cake International, two years ago. There were a large number of entries and Dee came second in the class. The cake features a naughty Elf who has been at Mrs Claus's pantry and eaten far too many cookies. So much so, he needs a nap and collapses in exhaustion!! He should be packing presents and getting the sleigh ready for Christmas Eve. Let's hope he isn't discovered by the Clauses.
The cake was offered as a class last year and you have the option of bringing your own cake or having one made for you. If you bring your won cake, it has to be 8" in diameter and 3" tall to ensure the design can be completed to maximum effect. You do need to have some experience of cake decorating and you will learn numerous skills, some of which include:
- preparing a fruit cake with marzipan
- icing a fruit cake
- creating a basket weave effect
- deciding on a colour palette
- using modelling paste and tools
- creating an elf with particular emphasis on face and hands
- learning about proportions
- using colours to create emphasis
- compiling the final cake
- tips about transport and storage
Just what a showpiece you will create, and how impressed friends and family will be when you present your cake this year.
As with all our courses, everything is provided, unless you decide to bring your own cake. There will be lots of help and guidance to ensure you create a cake you will be proud of. Lunch and refreshments are served throughout both days.
