Sunday Beer School - Free Beer! Week 3/6
The Butcher's Hook, Thornbury
Beer has been around since the ancient Egyptians and excluding water, is the fourth most popular beverage in the world. Despite its longevity and widespread popularity and it is still very much a misunderstood drink.
Due to numerous permutations of the brewing processes and the variation in beer’s four principle ingredients, it is also one of the most versatile and varied alcoholic drinks in the world. From a smooth chocolatey, coffee porter to a juicy, fruity India Pale Ale to a tart, acidic lambic we believe there is a beer that should suit every palate, it’s just a question of helping people find the right beer for them.
Whenever someone says, “I tried beer once and I don’t like it” it’s a bit like someone saying “I had a cheese sandwich once and now I don’t like sandwiches”. You just haven’t found the right sandwich yet! If you hadn’t noticed, we really love beer at the Butcher’s Hook and we want to help others enjoy it too.
That’s why every Sunday for the next six weeks we’re hosting our Sunday Beer School to help you find the right beer for you. We’ll show you how beer is made, how we serve and look after our beer to make sure it reaches you in top condition, how to tell if your beer is past its best. We’ll take you through a variety of styles, we’ll tell you why we love cask beer or real ale as well as good keg beer and we’ll help you understand why some beers cost more than others.
Sunday Beer School will last for an hour and will be a fun, informal chat about beer with tastings each week of three different beers. The best part of it all? It’s free! Yep, you heard correctly, free beer ladies and gentlemen. Roll up roll up, school starts at 3pm!
