Tutored Cider Tasting with Tom Oliver
The Butcher's Hook, Thornbury
Those ‘in-the-know’ about cider will know exactly who Tom Oliver is. Those who aren’t might wonder why we’re inviting Lou from Neighbours to host an evening of cider tasting. Well, Herefordshire cidermaker Tom Oliver is widely regarded in the industry as ‘the Godfather of cider’ and frequently touted as the greatest cider maker in the world. Heck, he’s even been named-checked in Vogue magazine!! You can imagine then that we are utterly delighted to have Tom here to talk us through a selection of his favourite wild-fermented, minimal intervention ciders and perries. Tom’s approach is to “take what the fruit gives” and let the character of the apple or pear shine through. He’s also been one of the most innovative and creative cider makers pushing boundaries with his series of dry-hopped ciders as well as collaborations with brewers to create beer-cider hybrids. This is going to be a very special evening. Tickets are £16/person and very limited so grab one at the bar now!
