Cake Course: Fayola the Proud Flamingo 2
The Cake School, Thornbury
We like to find names for our courses and when Dee decided to offer an advanced modelling/carving course based on a flamingo, we had to source a suitable exotic name. We decided on Fayola as it is an African name meaning 'walks with honour'. During this course you will be creating Fayola, a flamingo who stands with honour.
This is an advanced course and so you do need to have some experience of modelling. During the two days you will be constructing a framework upon which to build Fayola. Her body will be carved from cake and she will be standing on one leg fastened to a board. To complete the design you will be creating tropical flora and fauna which will be placed at the base of Fayola - this will include a hibiscus flower.
The course will provide you with advanced modelling and carving skills and is particularly useful for those who wish to enter cake competitions such as the NEC, or indeed, just want to take their decorating skills to the next level. You will also be learning about colouring and painting, to make your design come to life to create a wow factor. At this point in time we do not have a mock up of Fayola but Dee will be creating one. Those who have gone on Dee's courses previously are aware of the complexity and skills development planned into each course.
This course is being run across two days - Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March 2019 between 10.00am and 4.00pm and there are just 4 places available. Everything is provided, including all refreshments and a lunch. Dietary intolerances can be catered for. The all-inclusive price is £175.00 and if you are interested, please book via our website below.
