Exhibition of Quilling in Thornbury
Armstrong Hall, Thornbury
The Quilling Guild will be staging its annual exhibition showcasing the art of paper filigree. Doors will open to the public from 13.00 to 16.30.
Quilling, or ‘paper filigree’, is the centuries-old art of rolling narrow strips of paper and then shaping them to create exquisite and intricate designs. It can be applied to a wide range of projects, from simple gift tags and greetings cards to the creation of pictures, jewellery, freestanding paper sculptures and the decoration of three-dimensional objects such as boxes.
The highlight of the event will be extensive displays of quilled artwork by filigree artists from all over the UK and around the world. The programme also includes demonstrations, ‘make and take’ workshops, trade stands selling a variety of quilling supplies and displays of quilled art to take your breath away.
Visitors will have ample opportunity to learn about quilling, share ideas and gain inspiration from some of the world’s best-known quillers.
