History Talk: The Mysteries of Loch Ness

Olveston Methodist Church

Olveston Parish Historical Society History Talk: A Monstrous Commotion: The Mysteries of Loch Ness

Popular local speaker Professor Gareth Williams will explain the origins of the story of Nessie and describe the public excitement its reported sighting caused in the 1930s.

He will also explore why so many eminent scientists and explorers were willing to risk their reputations in pursuit of an animal that should have died out 65 million years ago.

A lively and often humorous story - and there’s even a Thornbury connection!

All welcome. £2 payable on the door.
