This documentary follows Gertrude Lowthian Bell also known as the female Lawrence of Arabia as she travels into the uncharted Arabian deserts aiming to shape the modern Middle East after the conquests of the first World War. Much of the archival footage of the region was filmed over a century ago and is overlaid with the voice of Tilda Swinton who is also the executive producer. Bell was a adventurer, diplomat, archaelogist and political powerhouse, who would go boldly into desert meetings of all male Arabian Sheiks and Princes.
A truly remarkable woman.
