CANCELLED - Thornbury Jazz Festival 2020
Armstrong Hall Complex
Sadly we have had to cancel. Refunds will be obtainable from Thornbury Town Hall when it re-opens. Call 01454 412272 for information.
Preparations are well under way for the third Thornbury Jazz festival.
Top of the bill is Remi Harris with his virtuoso arrangements of jazz greats that recall the Hot Club of Paris. Also appearing are the Bristol-based band Sinead and the Sinnermen, with a fabulous collection of numbers from the Great American Songbook and elsewhere; the Kris Nock Big Band, with its amazing wall of sound; and a reflective selection of cool numbers from the Jenner Jazz Quartet.
The evening begins at 6pm and will end at 11.30pm.
Tickets are £20, from Thornbury Town Hall or 01454 412272. A choice of hot food will be available all evening, and meal tickets (£8) can be bought in advance. We expect to sell out, as in previous years - so early booking is advised.
The logo and poster for this year's Festival was designed by Josiah Hendy, of the Sixth Form Art Class at Castle School. Josiah's winning design is brilliant and evokes the image of the fabled Monterey Jazz Festival during the 1960s. Many congratulations to him, and to all the other students who entered the annual poster competition and produced a stunning collection of inspired and original designs. And thanks are due to Laura Knowles at Castle School for masterminding the competition.
