Thornbury Community Celebration Service

St Mary's Church, Thornbury

4.30-5.30pm

A celebration service at the Parish Church followed by a drinks reception with a party feel where we will celebrate and give thanks for the rich variety and diversity of Thornbury as a community and all that goes on in our town.

We are inviting representatives to come from every kind of community group, whether formal or informal, for the young or the old and everyone in between. There is such a large amount going on in our community and this is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the huge diversity of activities and events, of skills and gifts we have an offer in Thornbury.

The service will be a simple and joyful event which everyone will easily join in with. It will be followed by wine/juice and nibbles afterwards to which all are invited to stay and socialise.

If you are involved with a local group, to help us showcase the breadth of all that you do as a community, we invite you to send us a couple of digital photos of your members engaging in their activity, whatever it may be. The photos will be put up on screens in the church to give a vivid visual impression of many different events and activities (please ensure parents have consented to photos if children are shown).

This event forms part of a Festival celebrating community throughout the Diocese of Gloucester, which will be launched with special events open to all at Gloucester Cathedral on Thursday 17th May, from 4pm. For more information see www.festivall.org.

All are welcome to this event, but it will help our planning to have a rough idea of numbers. We would be grateful if you could let us know if your group will be represented and how many you expect to bring by Friday 11th May 2018 - as well as sending us your photos! Please email the church office below, or Jan at janvanderlely@gmail.com.
