Owen Sheers

Cossham Hall, Thornbury

Owen Sheers is an author, poet and playwright and presenter of arts programmes who is currently Professor in Creativity at Swansea University. He has also been Artist in Residence for the Welsh Rugby Union.

His first novel, Resistance, which was adapted as a film, has been translated into 11 languages and his acclaimed verse drama, Pink Mist, commissioned by BBC Radio 4, was first staged at the Bristol Old Vic in 2015 and later in London.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, the BBC commissioned Owen to write a film poem. It was called The Green Hollow and was performed in 2016 by a stellar cast of Wales’s best known acting talent including Michael Sheen, Jonathan Pryce and Sian Phillips. Owen will be reading from The Green Hollow and also there will also be a Q&A session after the reading.
