Omar Sy stars in the true story of Rafael Padilla a former slave in Cuba who became a star clown in Paris at the turn of the 20th century in partnership with the English clown George Footit. Despite conflicts between the two artists Footit as the authoritarian white clown and Chocolat as the black drudge they entertained the crowds for two decades. But nothing lasts forever and the skill and the humanity of of Padillla started to decline until his premature death in 1917.
