Tytherington Local History Group

Tytherington Baptist Church

Archaeologist Peter Twinn will be giving a presentation about a hill fort found close to Tytherington dating from the late Iron to early Bronze Age (800-500BC). The very earliest Tytheringtonians!?

It is a site of national importance because an unusually large number of Roman artefacts have been discovered there. Folklore tells of a bloody massacre having taken place on Abbey Lane, a path which passes through the camp.

Peter Twinn will talk about this site and other Roman settlements in central and south Gloucestershire. Visitors are always welcome (£2-00 including tea and biscuits!). Come and find out what the Romans did for us!
