During this time of uncertainty, Barcan+Kirby are working extremely hard to ensure that we are protecting the health and safety of both our employees and our clients above all else.
We continue to offer the highest standard of service to our clients, however, we have had to adapt our usual working processes in line with the government’s guidance.
All of our six offices were closed to the public from Monday 23rd March, and all staff are working from home, providing the same high standard of service as we did prior to lockdown.
We are asking individuals not to visit our offices unless specifically asked to do so. All enquiries are now coming through our website and phone lines. Our Reception and Client Relationship teams are working hard remotely to ensure they’re dealt with as efficiently as possible. We also have the assistance of Moneypenny, who are able to take enquiries over the phone, should we be unable to take a call at a particular time.
For family law enquiries, we have also now launched Settify, an online tool which gathers details from those making enquiries relating to family matters and means our legal team have all the vital information they need prior to a first appointment, saving valuable time for both parties.
For Wills, LPAs and Court of Protection matters, our specialist team continue to advise clients remotely, either by telephone or by Skype. Wills can usually be prepared within 7-14 days of agreed instructions and money paid on account. If there is a need to have the will prepared in a shorter time frame then this can be discussed, and our Will Writers are prioritising key workers during this time.
Completed Wills will be sent via email or post, and we will arrange a telephone appointment or Skype at the time you are signing the Will, to talk through the formalities of witnessing.
Initial meetings and appointments may be taken over the telephone, rather than face-to-face, across all departments. Before the initial telephone meeting can take place, we ask that individuals scan or photograph two forms of ID and send to the lawyer they’re seeing. Any documents should also be sent to us electronically, and if hard copies are needed, we will advise individuals on how best to get these to us via Royal Mail.
We continue to update our clients and colleagues via email and telephone. We are also using our social media channels and dedicated website area to keep the public informed and to answer FAQs around each area of law we practice: https://barcankirby.co.uk/coronavirus/.
We have also launched a secure, easy-to-use online payment function on our website, which clients can use to pay invoices rather than call or come into our offices.
Incorporating the former offices of Alan Hodge Solicitors, David Cross & Co and Sims, Cook and Teague Solicitors, we have been established in Thornbury for over forty years, and are committed to providing a wide range of quality legal services tailored to clients' needs.
We can assist with company and commercial property transactions, advice for businesses, wills trusts and probate, buying and selling your home, divorce and other family matters, personal injury claims, and other disputes. Please request your free half hour initial interview.
