Thornbury Chamber Players Concert
St Mary's Church, Thornbury
Thornbury Chamber Players will be performing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater as their main work. In the first half they will perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto number 3 and a selection of other baroque and early works.
Thornbury Chamber Players were formed following the success of Thornbury Orchestra which has outgrown many venues. This relatively new group (formed about 2 years ago) is able to perform in many of the smaller venues both in Thornbury and further afield. Their repertoire includes early music up to contemporary.
Recent concerts have included a 20th century British programme and Handel and Stanley organ concertos to celebrate the renovation of a 17th century organ. For this concert Thornbury Chamber Players will be joined by a ladies choir specifically formed for the occasion.
The Chamber Players are grateful to St Mary’s for allowing them to rehearse here. This is a free concert with donations in aid of St Mary’s church funds.
