The title of the talk is "The Great Western Cotton Factory of Barton Hill". It includes information about who set up the Factory, what the conditions were like (bad!)and the impact it had on the people and development of Barton Hill. It is the story of ‘dirty money’ from compensation from the slave trade and the power of Bristol’s wealthy classes.
The speaker is Garry Atterton who is a founder member of the Barton Hill History Group, and teaches Geography at Castle School, Thornbury.
